The issue arises from improper handling of conversion-table values in the search highlighting feature, where malicious markup could be rendered as HTML instead of escaped text. This occurs because the highlight() function did not escape special characters before inserting <mark> tags. The vulnerability has a CVSS 4.0 base score of 5.1.
