CVE-2026-73973: CWE-22: Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal') in Linuxfabrik monitoring-pluginsCVE-2026-73973
0

Linuxfabrik monitoring-plugins prior to version 7.0.0 contain a path traversal vulnerability in the logfile check plugin. This allows an attacker with monitoring account access to specify arbitrary root-readable files, such as /etc/shadow, via the --filename parameter. The plugin opens the specified file as root without properly restricting the path to /var/log, leading to unauthorized file read access. The issue is fixed in version 7.0.0 by confining paths, resolving symlinks, and restricting to documented log roots.
