Splunk Enterprise version 10.4 contains a vulnerability where unauthenticated users can access Prometheus service metrics from the Edge Processor SPL2 Preview sidecar. This exposure allows retrieval of sensitive runtime and build metadata without requiring credentials. Versions prior to 10.4.2 are affected, with the issue not present in versions below 10.4. The vulnerability arises because the Prometheus metrics endpoint lacks authentication controls.
