CVE-2026-76838: Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) in HiEventsDev Hi.EventsCVE-2026-76838
0

CVE-2026-76838 is a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in HiEventsDev's Hi.Events product. The vulnerability arises because the webhook destination URL is only validated at registration, not at use. The validation uses gethostbyname() to reject private and reserved IP ranges, but this check is bypassed by public hostnames that redirect to internal addresses. When the webhook dispatch service follows redirects, it can be tricked into sending requests to internal or cloud metadata endpoints. The response from these internal services is stored and returned to the requester, exposing potentially sensitive internal data. Version 1.11.1-beta addresses these issues by revalidating URLs at dispatch, pinning validated addresses, checking every redirect hop, and decoding IPv6 transition addresses that previously bypassed filters.
