The issue arises when the optional pass-through authentication source accepts user identity from a client-supplied HTTP header without cryptographic validation. If this feature is enabled without proper upstream protections like a reverse proxy or firewall to sanitize and enforce client headers, an unauthenticated user can supply arbitrary identity values to initiate a session.
