0 CVE-2026-82252 is a high-severity vulnerability in gitoxide before version 0.52.1 where the software improperly follows symbolic links when reading the .gitmodules file in the worktree. This behavior allows attackers to craft a malicious repository with a symlinked .gitmodules file pointing outside the repository tree, causing gitoxide to parse arbitrary external files as submodule metadata. This can lead to injection of attacker-controlled submodule configuration values such as name, path, and URL.
