CVE-2026-86039 is an authentication bypass vulnerability in the JavaScript libp2p implementation (js-libp2p) affecting versions from 8.0.0 up to but not including 12.0.24. The flaw allows an attacker to spoof peer identities in peer records by signing records with their own key but embedding victim peer IDs and attacker-controlled addresses. This can lead to address-book corruption, dial redirection or failure, routing manipulation, and reachability disruption. However, the connection upgrade process still verifies remote peer identity, preventing full identity takeover. The issue is fixed in version 12.0.24.
