CVE-2026-86950 is an out-of-bounds write vulnerability that was fixed by improved bounds checking in Apple operating systems. The flaw could allow arbitrary code execution when processing a maliciously crafted file. Apple fixed this issue in iOS 26.7.1, iPadOS 26.7.1, macOS Sequoia 15.8.1, and macOS Tahoe 26.7.1. There is awareness of potential exploitation in highly sophisticated targeted attacks on iOS versions prior to iOS 27. The vulnerability has a high severity score of 8.8. An out-of-bounds write issue was addressed with improved bounds checking. This issue is fixed in iOS 26.7.1 and iPadOS 26.7.1, macOS Sequoia 15.8.1, macOS Tahoe 26.7.1. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals on versions of iOS before iOS 27.
