A critical vulnerability in the Linux kernel's IB/isert subsystem allows an initiator to declare a data segment length larger than the actual received data, causing out-of-bounds reads and potential heap corruption. This occurs because the isert_recv_done() function does not verify that the declared data length matches the actual bytes received, leading to unsafe memory operations. The flaw can result in reading beyond the receive buffer and writing unintended data to the backend storage. The vulnerability is tracked as CVE-2026-90414 and has a high CVSS score of 9.1.
