0 An integer overflow vulnerability exists in the file-psd plugin of GIMP on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10. This occurs when generating a thumbnail preview for a specially crafted PSD image, leading to an undersized heap allocation and a subsequent heap-based buffer overflow. The overflow can corrupt adjacent heap objects, potentially causing application crashes or arbitrary code execution. Exploitation requires a user to navigate to a directory containing the malicious PSD file using the GIMP file chooser, as the preview is generated automatically. Default Red Hat Enterprise Linux security features increase the difficulty of exploitation. Mitigations include avoiding untrusted PSD directories and disabling thumbnail generation in GIMP preferences.
