CVE-2026-92942 is a high-severity vulnerability in the patriksimek vm2 library versions before 3.11.7. The issue arises because the VM timeout option does not apply to code executed outside the synchronous VM#run() call. Specifically, sandboxed code can exploit exposed FinalizationRegistry and WeakRef objects to run cleanup callbacks after the VM#run() call completes, bypassing the configured timeout. This can lead to uncontrolled resource consumption and a denial of service by blocking the host event loop indefinitely.
