A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the libstoragemgmt component of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10. This flaw occurs when specially crafted SCSI Vital Product Data (VPD) page 0x80 data with an untrusted page length field is processed by the _sg_parse_vpd_80() function during serial number parsing. Exploitation requires local access and control over a storage device or virtual storage backend. Successful exploitation can cause a denial of service by crashing or destabilizing the affected process. The vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 5.5, indicating medium severity.
