DesktopSMS version 1.11.0 and earlier by MrPear has a vulnerability that allows local attackers to access critical SMS functions without authentication. Attackers can send SMS messages, retrieve SMS content, and set a paired identity by interacting with the application's local service without user confirmation. This occurs via an unauthenticated local service accessible through same-device loopback, enabling privileged SMS operations with the application's permissions.
