CVE-2026-96512 is a vulnerability in sudo on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 where time-based access restrictions using NOTBEFORE or NOTAFTER timestamps without a trailing 'Z' timezone indicator can be bypassed. An unprivileged local user can manipulate the TZ environment variable to shift the authorization window by up to about 25 hours, allowing execution of commands outside the intended time window. This does not bypass authentication but affects time-based authorization checks. The vulnerability requires sudoers rules with these specific timestamp formats and affects only users subject to such rules. It is rated high severity with a CVSS score of 7.8. Mitigation involves appending the 'Z' suffix to all NOTBEFORE and NOTAFTER timestamps to enforce UTC interpretation and avoid TZ variable influence.
