CVE-2026-96636 is a vulnerability in the python-pillow Pillow library prior to version 13.0.0. It involves uncontrolled resource consumption due to improper handling of multi-frame MPO and DCX images. Specifically, the seek() methods in MpoImageFile and DcxImageFile do not rerun the decompression bomb check when parsing later frames, allowing crafted images to cause excessive memory use and denial of service. This issue is fixed in Pillow version 13.0.0. Join the discussion | CVE Database V5 | 10/21/2026, 21:05:20 UTC Added: 10/21/2026, 21:31:47 UTC |
