CVE-2026-96637 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Python Pillow imaging library prior to version 13.0.0. It involves uncontrolled resource consumption due to improper handling of SPIDER image frames in the SpiderImageFile.seek() function. An attacker can craft a file that initially appears safe but later declares very large image dimensions, causing excessive memory allocation when loading the large frame. This can lead to significant memory exhaustion. The issue is fixed in Pillow version 13.0.0. Join the discussion | CVE Database V5 | 10/21/2026, 21:01:20 UTC Added: 10/21/2026, 21:31:47 UTC |
