This occurs because the AJAX endpoint 'package_app_action' lacks proper capability checks on the 'updateUser' action, relying only on a nonce validation. The vulnerability enables attackers to supply arbitrary user identifiers to wp_update_user(), bypassing ownership restrictions and changing critical account details such as email and password, leading to full site takeover.
