CVE-2026-9851: CWE-639 Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key in masaakitanaka Booking PackageCVE-2026-9851
0

The Booking Package WordPress plugin up to version 1. 7. 16 contains a privilege escalation vulnerability that allows authenticated users with Editor-level access or higher to take over any account, including Administrator accounts. This occurs because the AJAX endpoint 'package_app_action' lacks proper capability checks on the 'updateUser' action, relying only on a nonce validation. The vulnerability enables attackers to supply arbitrary user identifiers to wp_update_user(), bypassing ownership restrictions and changing critical account details such as email and password, leading to full site takeover.
