A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's jbd2 subsystem related to the shrinker scanning mechanism has been resolved. The issue involved the shrinker not accounting for busy checkpoint buffers in its scan budget, potentially causing excessive lock hold times on journal->j_list_lock. This could lead to other CPUs spinning on the lock, resulting in soft lockups or RCU stalls. The fix restores proper scan-budget semantics by decrementing the scan budget for every buffer examined, including busy ones.
