The flaw allows a malformed firmware patch with a length shorter than the version field to cause an underflow in length calculation, leading to oversized read and write operations during Bluetooth setup. Additionally, on 32-bit architectures, the existing patch offset and length checks can wrap around, causing further validation failures.
