In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: typec: tcpm: bound altmode_desc[] per iteration in svdm_consume_modes()… (CVE-2026-63962)CVE-2026-63962
0

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's USB Type-C TCPM driver was resolved that involved improper bounds checking in the svdm_consume_modes() function. The function failed to verify array bounds on each iteration when processing alternate mode descriptors, allowing a malicious or broken USB Type-C partner device to cause out-of-bounds writes. This could lead to memory corruption by writing beyond the altmode_desc[] array. The issue was fixed by moving the bounds check inside the loop to prevent indexing past the array limit regardless of input.
