A use-after-free vulnerability was identified and fixed in the Linux kernel's vub300 MMC driver. The flaw occurs during the probe failure error path when the inactivity timer and workqueue interact improperly, potentially leading to use of freed memory. The issue arises because the error handling bypasses the proper lifetime management of the controller state, allowing queued work to access freed resources. Although the timing conditions required for exploitation are unlikely in practice, the error path was corrected to prevent this race condition.
