In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: restrict implied bcc[0] exemption to responses without data area… (CVE-2026-64448)CVE-2026-64448 0 A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's SMB client was resolved that involved improper handling of response message lengths in smb2_check_message(). The function allowed an out-of-bounds read when a response with a data area was incorrectly exempted from length checks, leading to reads beyond the received buffer. This issue occurs during SMB NEGOTIATE and SESSION_SETUP phases before session establishment. The flaw was fixed by restricting the length exemption to only responses without a data area, preventing out-of-bounds reads.
