A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in the Linux kernel's IPMI driver (ipmi_si) was fixed. The issue occurs after a failed registration attempt when the BMC device ID cannot be fetched, leading to a cleanup of driver state without properly marking the interface as in shutdown. This allows asynchronous retries to access freed memory, causing a kernel NULL pointer dereference and potential system crash.
