A vulnerability in the Linux kernel SMB client causes in-place encryption corruption in the SMB2_write() function. When write retries occur due to unstable connections, encrypted data is resent instead of the original plaintext, leading to data corruption. This affects certain filesystem operations such as SFU mknod and MF symlinks, particularly on kernels before version 6.10. The issue is fixed by deep-copying the write payload before encryption to prevent corruption.
