A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Squashfs filesystem handling allows an out-of-bounds memory access when a negative block offset is read. This occurs if a crafted Squashfs filesystem with a negative offset is mounted, requiring CAP_SYS_ADMIN privileges. After mounting, unprivileged users can trigger the out-of-bounds access by reading the crafted file. The issue is fixed by checking for negative offsets and returning zero bytes copied, preventing the out-of-bounds access.
