A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's eCryptfs component was resolved involving improper handling of message context on send failure. Specifically, the function ecryptfs_send_message_locked() moves a message context from a free list to an allocated list before sending a request to the userspace daemon. If sending the message via ecryptfs_send_miscdev() fails, the context remains on the allocated list and cannot be reused, leading to resource mismanagement. The fix ensures that on failure, the context is moved back to the free list and the caller's pointer is cleared.
