CVE-2024-44995 is a medium-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's hns3 network driver. It involves a deadlock condition triggered when configuring traffic control (TC) during the reset process of the network device. The deadlock arises due to improper sequencing of port state changes and NAPI (New API) enable/disable calls during reset and TC setup. The issue is fixed by adding a DOWN process in the UINIT phase to correct the sequence and prevent deadlock.
