0

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's xen/pvcalls component allowed a backend to supply an out-of-range request ID (req_id) that was used without proper bounds checking to index a fixed-size response array. This could cause an out-of-bounds write, potentially leading to memory corruption. The issue arises because req_id was declared as a signed int while the wire protocol uses an unsigned 32-bit value, allowing negative indexing. The fix involves properly bounding the req_id and disabling the frontend if a backend violates the protocol to prevent further damage.
