A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ifb network driver was resolved involving incorrect handling of ethtool statistics reporting. The driver allocated memory for TX queue statistics based on dev->num_tx_queues but accessed stats using dev->real_num_tx_queues, causing out-of-bounds reads when RX queues exceed TX queues. This could lead to reading adjacent memory during ethtool statistics queries. The issue was reproducible with Kernel Address Sanitizer (KASAN) and was fixed by ensuring consistent use of dev->num_tx_queues for stats reporting.
