In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: ethtool: fix NULL pointer dereference in phy_reply_size In… (CVE-2026-64120)CVE-2026-64120
0

A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ethtool component was fixed. The issue occurred in the phy_prepare_data() function where memory allocations for several strings were not checked for failure. If kstrdup() failed and returned NULL, subsequent calls to strlen() on these NULL pointers caused a kernel panic. The fix involved adding proper NULL checks and centralized error handling to prevent dereferencing NULL pointers.
