CVE-2024-44970 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mlx5e network driver related to improper handling of Work Queue Elements (WQEs) in the SHAMPO feature. The flaw occurs when a Work Queue Element is unlinked from the linked list after all strides are consumed, but subsequent Completion Queue Entries (CQEs) with zero consumed strides for the same WQE cause an additional unlink operation. This leads to corruption of the linked list structure.
