A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's NFSv3 server implementation allowed clients to send SETATTR and create operations with out-of-range nanosecond values in atime or mtime timestamps. This caused corruption of on-disk metadata timestamps in filesystems like ext4 and XFS. The issue has been resolved by validating client-supplied timestamps early and rejecting invalid values with an appropriate error before any changes occur.
