CVE-2024-42223 is an integer overflow vulnerability in the Linux kernel's media DVB frontend driver for the tda10048 device. The issue arises because the state->xtal_hz value can be as high as 16 million, which causes an overflow when multiplied by pll_mfactor in a 32-bit integer context. This has been fixed by introducing a 64-bit variable to safely hold the calculation result.
