CVE-2024-43855 is a medium-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's md (multiple device) subsystem that causes a deadlock during the suspension of mddev when flush bio operations are in progress. The deadlock arises from a non-atomic increment and decrement of the active_io counter during the flush process, leading to a circular wait condition. This issue has been fixed by adjusting the timing of active_io decrement to prevent the deadlock. No confidentiality or integrity impact is reported, but availability is affected due to the deadlock.
