GHSA-5pmv-rx8r-wmv5: jxl-grid on 32-bit platforms has an out-of-bounds writes due to integer overflowCVE-2026-52834
0

On 32-bit platforms, the jxl-grid crate has an integer overflow vulnerability during length calculation when decoding crafted JPEG XL images. This overflow can lead to out-of-bounds writes in allocated buffers, potentially allowing arbitrary code execution. The issue arises from unchecked multiplication of width and height dimensions, causing allocation of undersized buffers for large logical image dimensions. Two main exploitation scenarios exist: decoding a huge frame or decoding a tiny cropped frame within a huge canvas. This vulnerability affects versions of jxl-grid prior to 0.6.2.
