This pipeline executes when an administrator opens the Add Data forwarder workflow, potentially compromising confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Splunk instance. The issue arises from insufficient neutralization of special characters in Deployment Server client identifiers used in dispatched searches. Exploitation requires an administrator to trigger the workflow after the attacker registers a crafted client identity.
