A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel SCTP implementation was resolved. The flaw involved improper handling of a cached ASCONF chunk pointer, which could lead to a stale pointer dereference during peer restart handling and timer expiry. This could cause a double release of memory or a NULL pointer dereference. The issue was fixed by clearing the pointer after releasing the cached chunk and adjusting timer expiry handling to avoid dereferencing stale data.
