A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ALPS touchpad driver was resolved. The issue arises from a race condition involving the dev3_register_work delayed work item, which can be scheduled after the associated data structure has been freed during device detachment. This can lead to use of freed memory, causing potential system compromise. The fix involves properly canceling the delayed work to prevent execution after deallocation.
