CVE-2024-41036 addresses a deadlock vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ks8851 network driver when using the SPI chip variant with SMP enabled. The deadlock occurs due to improper spinlock usage between ks8851_start_xmit_spi and ks8851_irq, causing a soft lockup. The issue was not detected earlier because testing was done with SMP disabled, where spinlocks are no-ops. The fix involves using spin_(un)lock_bh for TX queue related locking to prevent synchronous softirq execution that leads to deadlock.
