A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's IPv6 implementation was resolved by preventing in6_dev_get() from resurrecting a freed inet6_dev object. The function previously incremented a reference count on an object that could have been freed, leading to potential invalid memory access. This flaw was identified and validated by OpenAI Security Research and Trail of Bits.
