CVE-2025-21878 is a medium severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's i2c npcm driver that causes a soft lockup during warm reboot scenarios. The issue arises when the i2c module retains interrupt status after a warm reboot, causing the interrupt handler to be continuously triggered and leading to a system hang. The vulnerability is fixed by disabling the interrupt enable bit before requesting the IRQ, preventing the continuous interrupt triggering.
