In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Tighten cgroup storage cookie checks for prog arrays The fix in commit… (CVE-2026-74305)CVE-2026-74305
0

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's BPF subsystem involves improper checks on cgroup storage cookies for program arrays. The existing fix was incomplete, allowing a program without cgroup storage to improperly bridge tail call chains between programs with differing storage contexts. The issue arises because the compatibility check treats storage-less programs as compatible with any stored cookie, potentially causing incorrect behavior in tail calls. The refined fix requires stricter cookie checks, allowing zero storage cookies only if the program cannot perform tail calls, preserving legitimate use cases while preventing improper bridging.
