The issue occurs because debug_lockres_open() ignores the failure of dlm_grab() to acquire a reference, leading to a stale pointer being stored and later freed memory being accessed during release. This can cause kernel memory corruption detected by KASAN. The fix ensures open fails if dlm_grab() cannot acquire the reference, preventing use-after-free.
