In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mfd: sm501: Fix reference leak on failed device registration When… (CVE-2026-72240)CVE-2026-72240 0 A reference leak vulnerability was identified and fixed in the Linux kernel's sm501 multi-function device driver. The issue occurs when platform_device_register() fails during device registration, causing the device reference to not be properly released. This leads to a resource leak in the kernel. The fix involves calling platform_device_put() to drop the device reference on error paths. No exploit in the wild is known, and no CVSS score is provided.
