A race condition vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ring buffer implementation has been resolved. The issue involved a race between reading the trace_buffer sub-buffer size without locks and resizing the sub-buffer concurrently. The fix replaces the use of the vulnerable subbuf_size field with safer accessors and adds mutex synchronization to prevent concurrent modifications during reads.
