CVE-2024-50194 addresses a flaw in the Linux kernel's arm64 uprobes implementation for big-endian kernels. The vulnerability arises because the uprobes code does not convert the in-memory instruction encoding, which is always little-endian, into the kernel's native big-endian format before processing. This causes incorrect instruction analysis and simulation, potentially leading to erroneous rejection of safe probes, unsafe stepping of instructions, or incorrect instruction simulation. The issue has been fixed by changing data types to explicitly handle little-endian values and adding proper conversions.
