A vulnerability in the Linux kernel related to the handling of the _PAGE_UNUSED page table entry (pte) bit on s390 architecture has been resolved. The issue involved improper clearing of the _PAGE_UNUSED bit when setting present ptes, which could cause used pages to be discarded as if they were unused, leading to guest memory corruption in virtualized environments. The fix ensures the _PAGE_UNUSED bit is cleared whenever a present pte is set, preventing this erroneous behavior.
