A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's rtl8723bs staging driver allows out-of-bounds (OOB) reads during parsing of information elements (IE) in association request and join command handling functions. The issue arises because two IE parsing loops lack proper header bounds checks before dereferencing the length field, which can lead to reading beyond the buffer if a truncated IE is received from a malicious access point. This vulnerability has been resolved by adding appropriate boundary checks to prevent OOB reads.
