A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's platform/x86 hp-bioscfg component was identified where package parsers received an incorrect element count, leading to potential out-of-bounds heap reads when processing shorter packages. This issue arises because the parsers used the length of the package name string as a boundary instead of the validated package element count. A fix has been implemented to forward the correct validated element count to the parsers, preventing out-of-bounds reads.
