CVE-2024-46780 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's nilfs2 filesystem where some sysfs attribute show methods access superblock buffers without proper synchronization. The superblock buffers can be overwritten, swapped, or abandoned during runtime operations, so accessing them requires mutual exclusion using a reader/writer semaphore. Lack of this protection can lead to unsafe pointer dereferencing and memory access issues. The vulnerability has been resolved in the Linux kernel.
